Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat won the gold medal in floor exercise at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup competition sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG), November 24.

Born in 1997 in Ukraine, Dolgopyat began training in gymnastics as a child and moved to Israel at age 12. Named the 2017 Israeli Sportsman of the Year, Dolgopyat became the first Israeli gymnast to win a silver medal at the world championships, finishing second in floor exercise at the 2017 competition in Montreal.

Earlier this year, he came in first for floor exercise at the 2018 FIG World Challenge Cup events in Paris and in Hungary. He now hopes to earn a spot in Israel’s Olympic delegation to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
