Balmy temperatures had everyone thinking maybe it wouldn’t snow at all in Israel’s capital city this winter. But on December 11, a storm blew southward from Russia, bringing with it abundant precipitation.

Heavy rain has hit the country, and snow has already begun falling in the Golan Heights, the Galilee and other mountainous regions of the country, and is expected to begin falling in Jerusalem today as temperatures plunge even lower.

Watch ISRAEL21c’s video, shot in Jerusalem in January last year during the worst snowstorm in two decades.

Jerusalemites of all ages revel in the powdery winter wonderland that turns the city of gold into white.
