f90_ramadan

The month-long holiday of Ramadan kicks off tomorrow, and Arabs throughout Israel are preparing.

The holiday, which commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad, lasts 29-30 days and throughout the holiday Muslims fast from dawn until sunset every day.

In the photograph, colourful lights decorate the streets of the Muslim quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem during Ramadan.

This week’s photograph was taken by Sliman Khader/Flash90.

If you’ve got a photograph you’d like to feature on ISRAEL21c please send it in high resolution to info@israel21c.org. Every week we will choose the best one to feature on our pages.
