Italian fashion house Missoni’s presentation of its Spring-Summer 2014 collection launched Tel Aviv Fashion Week. Missoni’s chief designer Angela Missoni, and her mother, the company’s founder Rosita Missoni, as well as Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani, were the guests of honor.

“We’re incredibly excited about the arrival of the respectable leading fashion house Missoni to Tel Aviv. We are honored that such a great fashion house is attending the gala of Israeli designers fashion week. It is a homage on an international level to fashion design in Israel and to the international production of Tel Aviv fashion week,” said Motty Reif, Fashion Week Producer.

Sozzani met with up-and-coming designers at Shenkar College and said that whenever she meets young designers she expects to see innovative ideas. Sozzani said that Israel’s Albar Elbaz, chief designer at Lanvin, is a great example of an outstanding designer helping Israel to make its fashion mark on the world.

Fashion Week also saw the return of Maskit, the fashion house founded in 1956 by Ruth Dayan and now enjoying a resurrection.
