Israeli swimmers Iad Shalabi and Itzhak Mamistvalov qualified for the finals in the men’s 100-meter freestyle event earlier today in London.
Shalabi, ranked fourth going into the finals, and Mamistvalov, ranked fifth, will try to win places on the podium later tonight (September 3) at the Paralympics Aquatic Center.
It’s become a habit of sorts that the two Israeli swimmers clock in at similar times – earlier in the Games, Mamistvalov pipped Shalabi
in the 200m Freestyle by one hundredth of a second.

In tennis, Israeli doubles partners Noam Gershony and Shraga Weinberg won their quarterfinal match in two sets against Sweden yesterday. Gershony and Weinberg are set to play the second-seeded American team later this evening.
In fact, Israel’s tennis players showed great ball control in the quad singles event as well with Boaz Kramer, Weinberg and Gershony all winning their first matches.
As for Hagar Zehavi and Shimon Ben Yakov, their mixed sailing event was postponed due to low winds.
