Israel ranked in the No.1 spot in the number of hours spent on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites, according to a recent poll.

The Comscore research company said the average Israeli spends almost 11 hours a month surfing social networks, the most recorded in the world.

During the month of April, Israelis spent 10.7 hours on online social networking sites, reported the poll. Russia scored second place with an average of 10.3 hours a month on social networking sites, while Argentina, the Philippines, and Turkey recorded average monthly hours of 8.4, 7.9, and 7.8 respectively.

According to Comscore, Israel is ranked 37th in terms of the number of Facebook users, with 3.4 million Israelis – a whopping 46 percent of the population – on Facebook.

Known as a friendly nation, Israelis took their sociability one step further ranking second place among states with the highest relative number of social network users. The poll found that in Israel 90% of internet users own a profile on a social networking site.

In the Philippines, which ranked first, 93% of internet users have a social network profile. In Canada, the number stands at 85% and in the US and Western Europe it was between 60-70%.
