While the month of April is not officially ‘music month’ in Israel, the international musicians headed this way are sure to delight fans of all genres of music.
Kenny G gets things rolling on April 10 in Tel Aviv. The Grammy winning American, smooth jazz saxophonist has global sales totaling more than 75 million albums. His concert here is part of his world tour with Heart and Soul.
Four days later in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park, Israel’s teenagers will get the chance to see one of the hottest young acts now circling the globe. Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber will take the stage on April 14 in a much hyped concert. The Canadian singer has a slew of hits including Baby and One Time. The cost of his performance in Israel is estimated at more than $1.5 million.
Heavy metal legends, Megadeth, return with their punk brand of music to the Tel Aviv stage on April 16. Megadeth founder and Jewish born Dave Mustaine has said in the past that he enjoys performing in Israel. In an interview with The Jerusalem Post, he said: “I love Israel In America, there’s a stigma that all of Israel is like Gaza. I know it’s different.”
Another group making a return visit is the Swingle Singers. They’ll be in Jerusalem, Haifa and Tel Aviv on April 27-29. The Swingle Singers is a world-class, multi-Grammy award-winning a cappella octet from London, UK. They broke into the Jazz scene in 1963 and though the singers in the company have changed, the group is still considered one of the top Vocal Jazz ensembles of all time.
