Israel and Poland mark 20 years of ties

This year marks 20 years of bilateral relations between Israel and Poland, and the Israel Council on Foreign Relations and the Polish Institute of International Affairs are marking the anniversary with a Polish-Israeli Foreign Policy Conference in Jerusalem, being held from today through September 21.

Relations between the two countries were severed in 1967, but following the collapse of communism in the country and the rise of a democratic Poland, relations between Israel and Poland, including commercial ties, have flourished.

Poland was fertile ground for Jewish creativity for many centuries, and many of Israel’s founding fathers and mothers and leading luminaries were born there.

Conference participants include current and former ministers from the Republic of Poland, Israeli diplomats, government officials, senior print and television journalists and members of academia.
