An Israeli browser extension company that only came out of beta a few months ago has scored a huge buyout to ecommerce site, Market.com, for $37 million. Crossrider
, a platform that allows developers to make extensions that work on all popular browsers, was started 20 months ago with just $2 million backing.
Co-founders CEO Koby Menachemi and CTO Shmueli Ahdut are reported to cash in $9 million each from the sale.
On its website, Crossrider reports more than 217 million users on its platform.
“It’s clearly touched on a hot point — extensions for web browsers, which people use to customize how they interact with the web and increase the functionality of their browsers,” says TechCrunch.com of Crossrider’s output.
